Led by Jerry Hayes since 2009, GiveNGo has built partnerships with schools, shelters and health organizations across Charlotte to run programs that move people toward jobs, education and stability. The outcomes documented here cover 2009 to 2014.
Rather than make broad claims, GiveNGo points to what we've already done. PACT, our pre-apprenticeship workforce program, is direct evidence of our ability to move from funding to a real, operating program with real participants and real outcomes.

The Pre-Apprenticeship Certificate Training (PACT) program is a workforce development initiative designed to help participants facing barriers to employment build practical skills, employability skills, and greater readiness for the workforce.
GiveNGo secured $100,000 in funding to launch PACT, then built and ran the program from the ground up — recruiting participants, delivering training and connecting graduates directly with employers. This page uses PACT as the primary example of that capability, not a complete program history.

Wraparound support for families and youth at Charlotte Emergency Housing, expanding into afterschool, summer feeding and holiday relief.
Every head of household received an updated resume plus soft and hard skills coaching before transitioning into stable housing.

Tutoring for every child in the shelter with a 2.0 GPA target. Some students rose as much as half a grade point. Students who met the bar earned educational field trips to sites like the Biltmore Estate and Riverbanks Zoo, six trips per year.

AIDS awareness forum at JCSU with Carolinas Care Partnership
500 attendees. Four healthcare professionals and an HIV survivor presented. The next day during CIAA, volunteers distributed 2,000 prevention and information kits and 20 college students got tested.

Give the community a chance domestic violence tour at UNCC
200 attendees. 30 attendees were referred to the right healthcare provider.

Two health fairs at Revolution Park
400 attendees. 10-plus wellness vendors at each event.
In partnership with CMS and Communities In Schools. Students with a 2.5 GPA or higher had the full night covered, including tux and dress, haircuts, beauty bar, meal and tickets.

GiveNGo ran vocational training, rebuilt every resume and coached heads of household on the soft and hard skills employers screen for.
Result
75 families served across three years, with 29 heads of household landing new jobs before they transitioned out of the shelter.
Challenge
Children in the shelter were falling behind, with a 2.0 GPA needed to stay on track.
Action
Volunteers tutored every child in the facility and tied educational field trips to hitting the GPA target.

200 youth tutored, gains as high as half a grade point and 18 field trips to sites like the Biltmore Estate and Riverbanks Zoo.
Challenge
High-achieving students from tight budgets were set to miss their senior prom.
Action
With CMS and Communities In Schools, GiveNGo covered the entire night for students carrying a 2.5 GPA or better.
Result
180 students fully outfitted and sent to prom from 2009 to 2011.
Impact requires more than identifying a problem — it requires the capability to attract resources, build programs, reach people, deliver services and measure what happens next. PACT is an example of GiveNGo putting that process into practice.
